The August Primary is an Open Primary.
You will not be asked to select a Ballot Type. All party ballots
will be on your ballot. You may not “split your ticket” or
“crossover vote.” You may only vote on one party’s ballot to
nominate candidates for the November General Election.
Bring photo I.D. (i.e. driver’s license) or be prepared to
complete an affidavit that you are not in possession of your
photo I.D. A ballot will not be issued unless you provide
sufficient photo identification or complete the affidavit.
Allow sufficient time for voting. The busiest times to vote
are: 7 a.m. to 9 a.m., 12 p.m. (noon) to 2 p.m., and 6 p.m. to 8
p.m. If you are voting during peak times, it may take longer to
vote. Your patience is appreciated.
If you are concerned
about the time you may spend waiting in line, and you qualify
for an Absent Voter Ballot, considering applying for an AV
ballot. This will allow you more time to study the ballot
without the pressure to hurry and vote. As a registered voter,
you may obtain an absent voter ballot if you are:
60 years old or older
• Expecting to be out of town on
• Unable to vote without the assistance of
• In jail awaiting arraignment or trial
to attend the polls due to religious reasons
• Appointed to
work as an election inspector in a precinct outside of your
precinct of residence
If you qualify for an AV ballot,
Poll Workers have a great deal of
responsibility in issuing ballots and recording information.

make sure that your voting experience is handled efficiently and

completing the Application to Vote, clearly and legibly print
your name and date of birth and sign the application. Inform the
inspector of any name change, address changes, or hyphenated
